Our Priority.

Our priority is facilitating your safe dining on campus. Chestnut Conference Centre at the University of Toronto has implemented extensive and enhanced COVID-19 Health and Safety Measures.

Chestnut Conference Centre at the University of Toronto’s downtown campus has implemented extensive and enhanced health and safety measures that has enabled our safe and gradual return to campus. These procedures have been developed based on guidelines and by-laws set out by the Province of Ontario and the City of Toronto. Our priority is facilitating safe dining on campus.

Here’s what we’re doing to keep our students, faculty, staff and guests safe: 

Staff Training

  • All Food Services staff receive ongoing, enhanced health and safety training.
Physical Distancing

Physical Distancing 

  • Capacity limitations. 
  • Adding floor markers and directional signage in high traffic areas. 
  • Adding plexiglass barriers where possible at points of service.
Wellness checkpoints

Wellness Checkpoints

  • Regular staff health screenings. 
  • Door greeters and screeners conducting guest wellness checks at all entrances.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Cleaning and Disinfection

  • Enhanced cleaning, sanitization and disinfection in high traffic areas with an increased focus given to high-touch surfaces. 
  • Committed to continuing to use high quality and effective cleaning products in accordance with Ontario Public Health for coronaviruses, bacteria and other infectious pathogens. 
  • Employees are provided with detailed Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines for each cleaning product to ensure proper usage. 

Hand Hygiene

  • Increased hand-sanitizing stations.
  • Employees are required to practice frequent and rigorous handwashing.  
  • All guestsand members of the university community are also encouraged to wash their hands frequently for their own safety and the safety of others.  
  • Only use non-contact methods of greeting one another, such as a wave.  



Support is available to our community members with dietary issues such as allergens and cross-contamination, dietary restrictions and nutritional information.
